The first hours with the Tesla Model 3 were not only exciting but also full of surprises, both good and bad.
Let's start with the handover itself. It was scheduled for the day I flew back from a conference in Croatia, and it didn't go without surprises. My flight was due to land in the evening, around 19:30, long after the Tesla showroom in Ząbki had closed. As luck would have it, my plane was also delayed by almost an hour. I was ready for complications, but the showroom staff really rose to the occasion - not only did they agree to wait for me after hours, they even offered to deliver the car straight to Chopin Airport. Despite the delay, everything went smoothly and I picked up my Tesla already charged and ready to go. Huge respect to the whole team - what a comfortable start to a new adventure!
Before picking up the car, I ordered quite a few accessories that were supposed to make life with the Tesla even nicer. Unfortunately, not all of them lived up to my expectations. For example, the frunk mat turned out not to fit the model (despite the seller's assurances), and the phone holder I installed doesn't play nicely with where the screen sits in the TM3. The screen is a few centimetres too far to the left, so the phone ends up partly blocked. A small thing, but annoying all the same.
Lining the upper part of the trunk with a sound-deadening mat, on the other hand, was a real challenge. I haven't contorted myself like that installing anything in a long time. If the mat starts peeling off, I already have a backup plan – double-sided 3M tape goes into action!
Not all the accessories were disappointing. The S3XY Buttons and Knob are real gems! These little devices put a lot of functions right at my fingertips, without having to hunt for them in the on-screen menus. That definitely deserves a separate post, or a few posts about the various apps I decided to test along the way (Tessie, ABR, EVKlub and maybe others).
After two days with the car, we've already done almost 450 km of testing – acceleration, drive modes, trying out different comfort settings. In future posts I plan to look more closely at energy consumption, resetting the trip meter after each post. We'll see how much perseverance I have left for this experiment, but for now I'm full of enthusiasm!
