Yesterday the road conditions were almost spring-like, although I'd planned for a winter drive. The route looked like this:
Budimex Mińsk Mazowiecki -> Sheraton Kraków
The car was loaded to the brim - the boot packed to the top and plenty of stuff on the rear seats too, so the weight was comparable to four passengers. The car is a TM3 LR HL, picked up at the end of September 2024; current battery degradation according to Tessie is 1.1%, and according to S3XY Buttons 3.4%. Mileage is 14.5k km.
Trip details:
- Started at 82% charge; 27% was left on arrival in Kraków.
- On the way, a short charge at the Supercharger in Radom. The Tesla suggested 5 minutes would be enough to arrive with 10%, but we spent 20 minutes there shopping and left with 75%.
- Speeds: A2 - 140 km/h, then via S2 -> S79 -> S7 according to the limits.
- I don't recommend the Radom Centrum (Potworów) exit - the asphalt suddenly ends for 100 m, which at 90 km/h at night can deliver quite a thrill.
Energy consumption:
- To Radom, with a cold battery (charged on AC), consumption was 21 kWh/100 km.
- From Radom, with the battery warmed up, consumption dropped to 17.6 kWh/100 km, although the last 25 km led along roads through villages (90->50->90).
Travel time:
- The total journey time was exactly 4 hours.
- The detour to Radom cost us about 40 minutes - Google Maps showed the route should take 3:20.
- Shopping made the stop longer, but it was useful.
Stats from Tessie:
- Mińsk -> Radom: 154 km, 32.36 kWh
- Radom -> Kraków: 192 km, 33.86 kWh
- Total: 66.22 kWh
Costs:
- Charging in Mińsk (DKV AC) - 95 PLN (28->82%)
- Charging in Radom (SuC) - 55 PLN
- Total: 150 PLN
Summary:
Covering 350 km is doable if you stick to the speed limits. Initially we planned to charge the car to 95% and drive without a break, but my wife's shopping changed our plans. Mińsk lacks a decent charger at a shopping centre, which affected our decisions.
Consumption of 66.5 kWh is about 90% of the battery capacity - some of the energy went on heating. Road conditions were good, with no wind and no heavy vehicles on the route.
The Warsaw-Kraków route still leaves a lot to be desired in terms of charging infrastructure. The options available are either a SuC at the cost of 20 minutes, or expensive options at Shell stations.
Plans for the rest of the trip:
Tomorrow we head to Wisła, and on Thursday to Katowice. On Friday, the Katowice -> Warsaw (Heliotropów) route (320 km), starting at 100%. Half the way is the A1, the other half via the S8/S2 to the Greenway on Heliotropów, where I want to use the promotional 15 kWh.
We'll see what percentage is left on arrival at the Greenway!
