On Wednesday during the day, a guy from the Tesla service centre called to say the replacement computer would arrive in a few days, so there was no point in me coming in now – unless I wanted just the spoiler fitted.
Of course I did! For the computer replacement we booked an appointment on 18.11 at 7:15 – right after I get back from Pomerania.
So on Thursday I set off at 7 in the morning. Why didn't it occur to me earlier that Tesla is quite a drive away! When I had a Skoda service booked, I'd leave at 6:45 and be there early – it's a stone's throw. This time I had to leave as early as 5:45 to make it comfortably. OMG, what have I done to myself? For a few months now I've been trying to avoid early mornings, and even J. teases me about it. 😊
But the service itself? As someone who isn't keen on too much contact with people, especially strangers, I have to admit it was great. If only I'd figured out a few basics! I arrived 15 minutes early and managed to top up the car at the Supercharger – which, as it turned out, was completely unnecessary.
At 7 I drove onto the lot, tapped in the app that the car was ready for service, and... that was it. I went for a short walk. The day before, I'd been told the whole thing would take an hour at most. At some point I glanced at the app, and it said the repair wouldn't be finished until 10... Wait, what?
And this is where the app came to the rescue – I immediately opened the chat and asked whether there was any chance they could finish by 8:30, because work was waiting. The technician replied that he'd find out and let me know. About 20 minutes later I got a message that they'd be done around 8:00, and that the car would wait until 20:00 if I needed more time. Brilliant!
On my way back from the walk, I got a message that the car was ready. I sped up so it wouldn't sit on the lot too long.
The car was waiting at a charger, plugged in – and for free! Well, I missed out on the free charging, but I appreciate the gesture. After all, which service centre fills up your tank? I've never come across anything like that.
I unplugged from the wallbox and drove over to the Supercharger to top up to 80%. Interestingly, the 20 PLN wasn't taken from my account, but maybe that's just a delay. Unfortunately, the app didn't give me an option to rate the service, which is a shame, because I'd definitely give it 5/5. All questions sorted out in the chat, no face-to-face contact, quick service and the car waiting at the charger until pickup.
Brilliant!
