The last few days brought several interesting adventures with my Tesla – from testing the Freshmile app, through calibrating the headlights myself, to fast charging on the road.
Freshmile: a French mix of wins and fails
Freshmile, an app and RFID token, is an interesting option for charging electric cars in Europe. Sometimes it lets you charge really cheaply – e.g. at Power Dot, where you can get a rate of 2 PLN gross per kWh. Unfortunately, at other times it can let you down and... not work at all. It's like Russian roulette for EV drivers.
Headlight calibration: a DIY challenge
I decided to calibrate the headlights myself – inspection stations charge absurd amounts for this service, even over 1,000 PLN! My first attempt turned out so-so, so I'll have to redo it. Well, DIY has its challenges in practice, but at least the wallet stays in better shape.
Trip to Łódź: charging and good planning
During a short trip to Łódź I tested various charging options. On the way I went with IONITY – five minutes of fast charging gave me peace of mind that, if need be, I could come back the same way. Once there, I charged at the Andel’s hotel – a fee of 60 PLN for any amount of electricity turned out to be a really good deal.

Interestingly, the map of Łódź is full of cheap AC chargers, some offering energy for as little as 1.60 PLN per kWh. I didn't use them this time, but it's good to know such options are available.
Every trip is a new experience – and Tesla w bloku (Tesla in the block) gives me plenty of opportunities to try out different solutions and plan the next adventures. 🚗⚡
