Trips to the mountains always come with adventures, and the Tesla knows how to add its own little twists. This time the November route covered over 900 kilometres, with a few interesting moments along the way. Here's how the journey went:

A fail at Port Radomsko and Ionity
First stop, Port Radomsko. I'd imagined it as a big shopping centre, but reality quickly brought me back down to earth — it's more of a truck stop with a few amenities. On top of that, the Ionity charger played a prank on me: it refused to cooperate and blocked 400 PLN on my card for a few hours. Switching chargers turned out to be necessary. A small plus? I managed to help some Czech travellers who got stuck at the same faulty charger. Adventure ticked off.

A calm drive to Wisła
From Radomsko to Wisła I made it without any major adventures. A more or less law-abiding drive, with a short stop at McDonald’s for dinner. In Ustroń and Wisła I couldn't resist touring the local Lidl stores — the goal? Collectible matchbox cars for Tesla's 20th anniversary. At the hotel a nice surprise was waiting: free charging to full. The perfect end to the day!

Wisła → Kraków → Radom -> Home: traffic jams, pierogi and chargers
The next day began with a calm drive from Wisła to Kraków. The usual traffic in the city, but the purpose of the visit — a meeting at Manufaktura Pieroga (a pierogi restaurant) with Professor AR — made up for the hassle. The drive back home was simpler: a quick charge at the Supercharger in Radom, then a break for coffee and a bun at McDonald’s, topping up a few percent at an Orlen AC charger along the way, and home without any more adventures.

The trip in numbers
The whole route came to 908 kilometres, starting at 95% battery and ending at 40%. Charging along the way cost me 188.09 PLN, but taking into account the difference in battery state of charge (+55%) and 60 kWh free from the hotel, the total can be estimated at around 420 PLN.

  • Assuming 100% charging at public chargers: approx. 45 PLN/100 km
  • In reality: approx. 33 PLN/100 km, mainly thanks to the free charging at the hotel.

The route included:

  • 75% expressways
  • 5% motorways
  • 20% urban and rural mountain roads

The November trip showed that the Tesla copes in any conditions, and the costs remain attractive, even when using public chargers. What's more, every trip is a chance for new experiences — from charger fails to collecting souvenir matchbox cars. The Tesla and the mountains are simply a perfect match! 🚗⚡
